Lunch in the Valley – a sonnet

Tuck’s Tap and Grill was playing
Norah Jones back to back –
don’t know why I didn’t come.
I was drinking my favorite –
iced tea, half sweetened,
half not, with lemon –
had a Santa Fe burger, medium,
with sweet potato fries.
The waitress was very kind
and understood my need
for half and half –
just finished her associate degree
at Southwestern Community College –
be at Western in the fall.
