Sonnet – Equality

Not everybody is going to Heaven.
It’s not an equal outcome thing at all.
Hell, I might not make it in myself.
I try to live a good life, but I’ve made
Plenty of mistakes. Times I knew I was
Slipping into darkness, something saved me,
Passed me a lifeline that I didn’t deserve.
People get away with murder and worse.
It seems those folks will never pay the price
For their wrong, and since they’ll never pay,
It must be OK. My mother is in Heaven.
My dad is too. I would be welcome there.
I’d like to join them when the right time comes –
But not for everybody – only some.
